Originally, October 2020 was to be full of special Rock n'Roll shows and very special Church ministry. After all the big shows were "postponed," one single church date remained. But I was reminded of Zechariah 4 in the Old Testament. Jewish history of the rebuilding of a temple in Jerusalem following the captivity.
The most familiar verses are: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the Lord of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”
Suddenly, I realized something very powerful. I was back in time singing in a church only a few miles from where it all started in 1967 - 69, the early days of the Gospel Chords, but now 53+ years later. I was seeing how this promise had come true. By the power and spirit of God, the many mountains I faced while building my life had indeed been removed. I had laid a strong foundation on which to build the future.
The day of small beginnings and wonderful churches that so graciously allowed us to present our tiny, fledgling music ministry, to plant seeds that grew into this world wide reach with 1000s of friends.
I hold the promise from those days of small beginning. This work will continue with more great opportunities. Many more people will be entertained and inspired and God is the foundation stone of it all.
So hang on world .. 'cause HERE I COME!!
